Mystery Monday- 'Hillbilly Bowling'
We woke up to a pleasant surprise this mystery Monday by not having to do any yard work today. However, our plans got a little misconstrued when we showed up at the bowling alley that we had reservations for and the workers never showed. But to no surprise the Adam’s brainstormed and decided upon Hillbilly bowling. It was a lot of fun spending this community time together, there were only about five different lanes and it was an older alley so we had to write down our scores there was no T.V keeping scores. All the LinkYear students were enjoying the country music and line dancing around the alley.

Mystery Monday- Paintball

Today, we had the awesome opportunity to go play paintball as a group in the Ozarks! I had been looking forward to it, as I've never played before, but also became super nervous as we were putting on our gear and walking out to the battlefield. In the freezing cold temperature of 28 º (as my phone read) with a few flurries coming down, we entered the danger zone – all shivering yet ready for war. What made it even better was when Colt came out last, no jacket or any sleeves on, looking intimidating and ready to take down his enemies – my team. Great.

MYSTERY MONDAY - 'MYSTERY MONDATE'

This week for Mystery Monday we changed the name of the day to “Mystery Mondate”. We felt the name change would make this event even more epic than it already was. The “Mystery Mondate” started out with the male students choosing a female student and taking her on a date. The restriction for this date was the gentleman only had ten dollars to spend for himself and his date. The object of this date was to prepare the students of Link Year for Second Semester; when dating is allowed. It also showed the gentleman how to be intentional with the ladies.

MYSTERY MONDAY - 'TRIP TO HARRISON'

Mystery Monday Blog

This week, we had a really cool mystery Monday. We drove all the way to Arkansas (which isn’t actually that far) and ended up at the Harrison K-Life house. After finding a dead bird in the woods and scaring a bunch of girls, we went in to the K-life house to hang out and just have a really good time. The K-life house has a barn swing, where you swing around above a foam pit and try not to fall off.

MYSTERY MONDAY - 'MONDAY FUNDAY'

A lovely morning it was to start the day. 55 was the high and the sun was shinning not a bad start. Our Mystery Monday was chill but very exciting for us this week. As we all caravanned to our location, we played the game "freeze out". Basically we had the AC on the lowest setting, windows are open and the first one to complain about it was automatically the loser.

MYSTERY MONDAY - 'NUTRITION'

This week's Mystery Monday found all of the Link Year students in the downstairs dining hall at 9 am experimenting and sipping on green smoothies while we listened to nutritionist Mary Willis discuss for two hours the topic of wellness and health. Extremely beneficial especially for students at the beginning of a year away from home and regular eating habits, Mrs. Willis gave much information and tips which can help health and eating habits both now and in the future.

MYSTERY MONDAY - 'BIGGER OR BETTER GAME'

This Mystery Monday my group of three Rand, Rachel, and I (Amber) ventured out to reveal our real negotiating skills. The challenge was based off of the game “Bigger or better” in which we were shown a story of a man who started off with a red paper clip and negotiated his way up to a house! Yes I said it a house! Now we were to each take a red paper clip and implement this same idea within two hours and see what we came up with.

Week In Review

This week has been an absolute blast! Especially our second Mystery Monday, this week we were given a classic Disney movie but with a twist added to it i.e. Aladdin as a horror film, Snow White and the seven deadly sins, etc. Our "mission" was to go out into Branson in the groups we were placed in and take photos to recreate the story with its added elements. If that wasn't difficult enough we were given a maximum of 15 photos to tell the story ALSO  we had to have a complete wardrobe change in at least one of the pictures.

Mystery Monday

After a fun week of activities designed to help us get to know our classmates, our surroundings, and the program itself, the Kanakuk Link Year class of 2013 was finally ready to begin our regular weekly schedule. With any normal program, this may be a drag, or cause many feelings of uncertainty and doubt, but K-Link knows just how to keep us hype for each week. We experienced our first Mystery Monday today. None of us had any idea of what we might be doing. We were given only one hint: wear neon.
