Ireland | Full of History
Hey there wee laddies!
We might not be on a beach but we are having an absolute blast here in Ireland! So far we have been blessed with great hosts, great travel, and great weather making for an amazing start to the trip. The Lakeside Manor is even better than anticipated! Heather's been keeping the awesome meals coming out of the kitchen, we have plenty of space and even consistent wifi. The past two days have been a whirlwind. yesterday may be the highlight for many people on the trip. We got a tour of the North Coast narrated by our hilarious bus driver, Mark. We walked across (and the back across, nobody chickened out) the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, got into a wee bit o'trouble at Giant's Causeway but had an awesome time with some pretty sweet pictures and the to top it off we toured Dunluce Castle: which is the inspiration for C.S. Lewis' Cair Paravel in the Chronicles of Narnia.
Today was less high-paced but still really neat in it's own way. We started off with another morning learning session from Dr. Hadden Wilson. He taught us about the history of St. Patrick and C.S. Lewis and how they have affected Ireland and the world as we know it. Then we got to do a 'hot table' session with him and pick his very wise mind. IN the afternoon we did a C.S. Lewis tour which included a statue outside of a local library with a neat letter engraved, both of his childhood homes in Belfast, some of the schools he attended, and St. Mark's Dundela where he was raised and baptized. We even got to see the doorknob that he got his inspiration for Aslan from on the Old Rectory. We then finished the day with a little free time in Belfast to unwind.
Continued prayers for growth, sanctification and learning are appreciated!
