Two is Better Than One

This year, I have had the awesome opportunity to walk through the journey of Link Year with my brother, Caleb. Thinking I was the last student to commit to Link Year, I had no intentions of having a family member here with me, and even better than that, my best friend.

I have been praying for my brother for years now and his walk with the Lord. We were both raised by God-loving parents who taught us to live a God-honoring lifestyle, but sometimes we want to rebel because of that.

Caleb and I have both gone to kamp for years now and we knew about Link Year, but it never dawned on us that this could be for us. Through prayer and certain situations, I landed here at Link Year just at the perfect time. Caleb was in a dark, dark place in life where the Prince of this world was dwelling in his life. Adam Donyes and Joey Tisdale were able to come along side me and help talk to Caleb while he was going astray. God came down and made Himself very real. Caleb called and wanted to come to Link Year. It was an absolute miracle.

We have been together at Link Year ever since and been blessed with having family here to learn the same things and go through life together. Being from Mississippi, Missouri is far away for me. I was so excited to have a piece of my family here so close to me. Yes, we have had our ups and downs, our ins and outs; yes, we still fight like brother and sister, but aren’t we supposed to? We are also able to hold each other accountable and grow in our spiritual walks together. He pushes me to memorize Scripture, eat healthy, workout, be social, and many other areas that I struggle in while I push him to have a better attitude, love others with Christ's love, and manage his anger.

The Lord has no limits, and I have learned to give Him none. He is far greater than any plans I can make. Isaiah 55:9, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
