Students have done many awesome activities since arriving. From a scavenger hunt to ultimate Frisbee, there has not been a dull moment since we arrived. Although, many students are still getting acclimated with the schedule and the weather here in Branson, I think I can say for most of them that they already love it here.
During our first mystery Monday Link Year students participated in a scavenger hunt that occurred all over Branson at different locations. Later in the evening students were asked to get into cars and the Link Year staff took us to Martins point for bluff jumping. Also, at this time they allowed students to share their testimonies with each other. There was a repetitive theme all evening, it was inspiring and empowering for everyone to see we are not alone.
The first few days in the classroom have been a little dull due to the fact that we have to go over protocol and rules in order to keep everyone safe. Although, this portion of the week has been necessary and boring, I think the Link Year staff has done a phenomenal job in making it fun and educational. One afternoon, after a long morning in class they treated everyone to Sonic’s happy hour drinks! The next afternoon everyone met at the Ala Moana and we went to the lower fields to played ultimate Frisbee.
I think for most Link Year Students, Thursday evening’s canoe trip down Lake Taneycomo with Joe White for Orange Leaf custard and fellowship was one of the most amazing things this week. However, the most inspirational part of this trip came when Joe White sat us down in the lower fields and gave an awesome lesson/devotional.
The Link Year Staff has already showed many of the Link Year students that this year is going to be amazing and unforgettable. I think this program will open students up in ways we can’t comprehend or fathom.
