This past week, Heather, Molly, Savannah, and I (Stacey) had the opportunity to travel to Barcelona, Spain. We stayed at the home of, Xenia, a graduate of last year's Link Year class. Her family blessed us more than we could have asked. They helped us have a true experience with Catalase food, language and traditions. While in Barcelona, we first toured the Park Guell, where the Cheetah Girls was filmed, and then we toured an incredible structure which became a highlight for all of us: the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia. Thanks to the Monells family, who helped us buy the tickets, the four is us were able to attend an FCBarcelona vs. Levante "football" or soccer game. That was an incredible experience even for someone like me who doesn't know much about soccer. Throughout the rest of the trip we hung out on Las Ramblas in downtown Barcelona and ate at an authentic market called the Merkat de Sant Josep also known as La Boqueria. We went to the beach where Sav and I ate some paella; a traditional Spanish dish. And because it's not a true adventure until you do...we got lost a few times. But most of the people we asked directions from were very gracious in answering our questions. Overall the trip was a great cultural experience especially because few of the people there spoke good English. I am very thankful that I got to accompany Heather, Molly and Savannah on this trip to Barcelona. I will never forget it!
